Using the Data List |

The Data List is the central part of Prodev. It is the screen that displays when you first launch the program or complete any task within it. The best way to think of it is as a ‘home page’. The Data List screen mainly comprises a large list box where you enter the cost and revenue information relating to your development project. A good way to think of the Data List is as a “shopping list” of items that form part of your scheme. It is important to understand that the Data List deals with items that directly or indirectly make up the individual cost and sale totals that form the basis of your development appraisal. All matters relating to timescales and interest rates are dealt with elsewhere (see the sections Time/Finance, Detailed Timing and Cashflow-Edit). Note: In Prodev version 4022 the layout of the command buttons differs from that shown in this manual.
The Data List is structured to walk you through the logical sequence of most projects, that is, first you buy the site and have some initial costs, then you start construction (probably after getting all necessary permits to develop). You then enter construction costs either as a price per square foot/metre or as lump sums. Next come contingency and professional fees, agency fees and marketing costs (together with any other final costs), and then rents, yields and other sales values. At this stage do not be concerned as to when these costs and revenues will take place, as this is provided for in the Timing Sections, where you also set interest rates. Instead regard the Data List as the place where you look at the overview of the cost and revenue figures.
